As of December 13, 2011, Ukraine harvested 57.9 mln tonnes of grains in bunker weight throughout the areas of 15.3 mln ha, or 99% of the forecast, reported the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, on December 14. The average yield in the country totaled 38 c/ha against 28.5 c/ha last year.

Currently agrarians continue the harvesting campaign of maize for grain, in particular, the production volumes totaled 22.3 mln tonnes throughout 3.5 mln ha (98% of the forecast). The average yield totaled 63.8 c/ha, against 45.9 c/ha in 2010.

According to data from the regions as of December 13, grain harvest in registered weight totaled: 22.4 mln tonnes of wheat (up 5.6 mln tonnes compared to last year), 9.1 mln tonnes of barley (up 625 thsd tonnes), 589 thsd tonnes of rye (up 124 thsd tonnes). The announcement noted that the production volumes of buckwheat in bunker weight totaled 293 thsd tonnes (up 159 thsd tonnes), millet - 286 thsd tonnes (up 169 thsd tonnes).

The expected production volumes of crops of the harvest-2011 in clean weight will total over 56.4 mln tonnes.

During all years of statistical monitoring, Ukraine harvested over 50 mln tonnes of grains in 1989 (51.2 mln tonnes), 1990 (51 mln tonnes) and 2008 (53.3 mln tonnes) only.
