Ukraine is considering limiting milling wheat export in the second half of 2021/22 MY, informed Reuters on December 22 citing the sources familiar with the discussion.

“At a recent meeting at the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the government officials pointed that the restrictions are possible due to too high export pace”, – one of the sources said.

The source told that the decision on implementation of the quota on export of milling wheat could be made in mid-January 2022 with the volume of quota set at 4 mln tonnes.

The sources added that the discussion of the possible restrictions was based on the concerns of the Ukrainian government as to the strong wheat export in the first half of 2021/22 MY. As of December 22, Ukraine exported 15.6 mln tonnes of wheat.
