Russian grain crop to be only 4% lower than the record of 2017 - expert




The analytical center at Rusagrotrans JSC revised its forecast of Russian grains and pulses production up by 0.5 mln tonnes to 129.9 mln tonnes that is only 4% lower compared to the record result of 2017 (135.5 mln tonnes), declared the Head of the center, Igor Pavensky.

“We raised our forecast of wheat crop by 0.3 mln tonnes to 82.8 mln tonnes. Moreover, we increased barley production forecast by 0.3 mln tonnes to 21 mln tonnes that is the record high figure”, - the expert pointed out.

At the same time, I.Pavensky added that they had lowered their forecast of corn crop by 0.2 mln tonnes to 13.8 mln tonnes due to lower than expected corn yield in the central black earth region.
