Experts of the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) made some upward adjustments to the forecast of wheat production in Ukraine in 2020, declared the President of the Ukrainian Grain Association, Mykola Gorbachov, within frames of the online-conference Grain&Maritime Days Online, on May 28.

After the general meeting of the UGA members on May 27, the Association increased its expectations for wheat production to 26.7 mln tonnes. According to M.Gorbachov, the recent rains that took place in Ukraine, significantly improved the situation with moisture content. Those southern regions of the country, which suffered from the drought, are not the main producers of grain crops, and will not have the significant impact on the general figures.

At the same time, the UGA President explained that in the current year, the planted areas under corn significantly expanded, which will allow harvesting the record volumes at over 37 mln tonnes. Despite a slight reduction of barley production volumes at nearly 1 mln tonnes, corn will completely compensate the downward trend.
