It took 11 seasons for Ukraine to hit the new record of rapeseed export. According to APK-Inform, due to the high production, Ukraine shipped the record high 2.89 mln tonnes of rapeseed in 2019/20 MY, up 18% compared to the result of the last season, and up 10% compared to the previous maximum level achieved in 2008/09 MY (2.64 mln tonnes).

“The EU was the largest importer. It bought 95% of the total volume compared to 88.5% in the previous season, due to the sharp deficit of the oilseed amid the crop failure”, - declared the oilseed market analyst at APK-Inform, Julia Ivanitskaya.

She pointed out that the shipments of Ukrainian rapeseed to the EU increased by 26% in volume terms compared to 2018/19 MY – to 2.74 mln tonnes. Particularly, Ukraine increased the export to Germany (+26%), Belgium (+12%), the Netherlands (+2.6 times), France (+19%), Poland (+36%). The significant decline of rapeseed shipments was observed to Portugal (down almost in 5 times).

Turkey was the leading importers among non-European countries. The country imported unprecedented 60 thsd tonnes of Ukrainian rapeseed in October 2019 and took the 6 place in the list of the key destinations.
