According to APK-Inform, Ukraine raised sharply export of barley to Turkey in the first half of 2021/22 MY to 915.6 thsd tonnes, up 76 times compared to the same period of the previous season (12 thsd tonnes) and up 40 times compared to the full 2020/21 MY (22.9 thsd tonnes). Turkey turned to the second largest buyer of Ukrainian barley.

Stronger supplies to Turkey are based on smaller barley crop in the country and low carry-over stocks this season. Turkey may raise barley import 4 times to 2.7 mln tonnes in 2021/22 MY.

Over July-December of 2021/22 MY, Ukrainian barley covered 34% of Turkish barley import potential.
