As of May 21, Ukrainian farmers already planted spring agricultural crops throughout the areas of 14.87 mln ha, or 96% of the forecast, declared the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture.
In particular, the planted areas under wheat totaled 184.53 mln ha (100%), barley – 1.516 mln ha (100%), oats – 186.35 thsd ha (100%), peas – 282.71 thsd ha (100%), and sugar beet – 209 thsd ha (100%). The sown area under corn reached 5.254 mln ha (98%), buckwheat – 40.97 thsd ha (55%), millet – 40.77 thsd ha (52%).
Moreover, Ukrainian agricultural households are finishing the planting campaign of sunflower seed and soybeans that were completed throughout 5.899 mln ha (95%) and 1.255 mln ha (87%) correspondingly.
