According to the statistics data of Egyptian trade and transportation company LATT, Egypt increased wheat import to 382.45 thsd tonnes in July, up from 368.05 thsd tonnes the month ago.
In July, Egypt imported wheat from Russia and Ukraine only. Particularly, the country imported 225.8 thsd tonnes of Russian grain, down slightly from 281.4 thsd tonnes imported in June. The supplies of Ukrainian wheat grew from 86.6 thsd tonnes in June to 156.6 thsd tonnes in July.
In January-July, Egypt imported 5.2 mln tonnes of wheat, including 2.9 mln tonnes from Russia and 1.1 mln tonnes from Ukraine.
Besides, Egypt increased import of corn to 575.7 thsd tonnes in July, up from 479.3 thsd tonnes in June. Argentina was the largest supplier, who shipped 331.4 thsd tonnes of the grain in July, down from 358.9 thsd tonnes in June. At the same time, import of Ukrainian corn increased from 64.8 thsd tonnes to 190.5 thsd tonnes.
Egypt imported 5.38 mln tonnes of corn in January-July, including 3.3 mln tonnes from Brazil, 2.1 mln tonnes from Argentina and 1.4 mln tonnes from Ukraine.
