State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine to expand its port capacities

PJSC State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine plans to increase its port capacities by upgrading the existing elevators and construction of new ones, declared Robert Brovdi, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Corporation.

He noted that realization of the reporting projects will allow to the Corporation to fulfill its obligations on the exports of grains within frames of the signed contracts with the People's Republic of China. Thus, in the current season State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine should export 4 mln tonnes of maize on the Chinese market, in 2014/15 MY - 4.5 mln tonnes. To date the capacities of Odessa and Nikolayev terminals of the Corporation total 2.5 mln tonnes, therefore the Corporation is forced to use the required services, provided by commercial companies such as Yuzhny sea port.

At the same time, R.Brovdi reported that at the end of 2013 the Corporation launched modernization works at the Nikolayev port elevator, which will increase the transshipment capacities of the elevator by 35%.
