In Ukraine grain export shipments became activated, in particular, due to resumption of work of the grain logistics system after winter frost, declared Nikolai Prysyazhnyuk, Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on February 7.

According to him, in the first week of February 2014 Ukraine exported over 640 thsd tonnes of grains, which became the high export index.

The severe frosts which occurred in Ukraine in late January 2014, complicated work of the transport infrastructure of the grain market, noted the Acting Minister. Grain shipment rates and its movement significantly slowed down. However, to date the work of domestic grain logistics became restored, and the industry is operating in standard regime.

Generally, since the beginning of 2013/14 MY Ukraine already supplied more than 22 mln tonnes of grains on foreign markets, an increase of 5.5 mln tonnes compared with the same period of the previous season. In addition, there are several vessels in the ports under loading at the level of 1.3 mln tonnes of grains.

In the current marketing year Ukraine will confidently enter the world TOP-3 of grain exporters, said the Acting Minister. He noted that the demand for Ukrainian grains is consistently high.
