On February 28, 2014, the branch of PJSC State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine - the Odessa grain terminal – shipped the vessel with Ukrainian barley cargo to China. It is extremely significant that it will be the first in the Ukrainian history shipment of the domestic barley on the Chinese market, declared Robert Brovdi, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the state corporation.

He noted that in short period of time State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine managed to go through all legal and technical procedures, conclude the first contract, and ship the vessel with 52 containers of Ukrainian barley towards China.

"It is an initial batch of 1.5 thsd tonnes, which is to undergo the extremely demanding quality and conformity tests. And after that it will be reasonable to say about the full shipload batches of this crop," said R.Brovdi.

As a reminder, in December 2013 Ukraine signed the phytosanitary protocols with the People`s Republic of China, allowing to export soybeans and barley on the Chinese market.
