On March 17, 2014 the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Igor Shvayka, stated the opening of the farmlands market in Ukraine is undesired due to the risks being carried by the land shares owners.

The Minister stated the sale of lands by citizens or by citizens and legal bodies is undesired. As long as there is a lack of working positions and poverty in the country, it is easy to cheat the land share of farmer.

According to I.Shvayka most of the Ukrainian agricultural producers are rather satisfied by the current lease relations.
