Russian market loss to cause problems for the Ukrainian soybeans exporters
According to the data of APK-Inform, in the recent four seasons Russia has been of the largest countries-importers of Ukrainian soybean, by purchasing nearly 3-10% from the total Ukrainian oilseed exports.
In 2009/10 and 2010/11 MY the Ukrainian soybean imports were at the level of 27.5 thsd tonnes and 25.4 thsd tonnes (or 10% and 3% from the total import volume) respectively, in 2011/12 and 2012/13 MY - 42.1 thsd tonnes and 41.4 thsd tonnes (3%) respectively.
At the same time, during the first 5 months of the current season (September-January) there was an increase of the Ukrainian soybean exports to the Russian Federation – to 133.1 thsd tonnes, or 15% from the total oilseed exports to the foreign markets.
Thus there are some problems with the Ukrainian soybean further exports to Russia, so the domestic exporters will have to find the new sales markets or to improve own positions on the current ones.
