In Ukraine, particularly in the South regions, the winter and early spring crops harvest to decrease due to moisture content deficit, declared the Deputy Director of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center Anatoliy Prokopenko.
A.Prokopenko stated the spring crops planting campaign started earlier than the previous year, owing the favorable weather conditions, and to be finished within two weeks. According to the expert, the earlier date for planting campaign is favorable because the early spring crops maturation will not be impacted by the high temperatures usually being in the period of the second decade of June – the first decade of July.
A.Prokopenko added the agrarians started to plant early and average varieties of sunflower, but do to the expected temperature decrease and freezing it is not advisable to improve the oilseeds planting campaign due to the possible damage.
