As of May 12, 2014, agrarians of Russia already planted spring crops throughout the areas of 22.6 mln ha (42.4% of the forecast), an increase of 1.2 mln ha compared with the same date of 2013. In particular, the planted areas of spring grains totaled nearly 14 mln ha (43.9% of the forecast), up 1.3 mln ha compared with the same index of May 12, 2013, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
It should be noted that agrarians planted spring wheat throughout the general areas of 3.1 mln ha (23.7% of the forecast), up 0.8 mln ha compared with May 12, 2013; spring barley – 5.9 mln ha (67.4% of the forecast), up 0.4 mln ha. The planted areas of maize grain reached 1.8 mln ha (69.4% of the forecast).
Also, Russian agrarians continued planting buckwheat and rice – 66.8 thsd ha (6.3% of the forecast), and 135.2 thsd ha (68.2% of the forecast), respectively.
Agrarians planted sunflower seed throughout 3.4 mln ha (49.2%), spring rapeseed - 457.2 thsd ha (41.9%), soybeans - 618.7 thsd ha (36.6%).
