To increase the level of water supply in the Crimea, it is necessary to deny from rice, soybeans and maize cultivation in the region, declared Sergei Golubchikov, general member of the Russian Geographical Society, on May 20.

According to him, the reporting crops require a lot of water provision. The Crimeans should return to traditional agricultural crops of the region: vegetables, fruits and grapes, said S.Golubchikov.

Also, the expert stressed that cultivation of rice and soybeans were imposed to the Crimea after construction of the North Crimean Canal in the 50s last century.
