According to analysts of APK-Inform, the export potential of grains and pulses in Ukraine in 2014/15 MY is estimated at the level of 30.5 mln tonnes, a decrease of 2% compared with the forecast of export potential in 2013/14 MY (31.2 mln tonnes). The reporting export volumes in the coming season are caused by reduction of grain production volumes on the one hand (according to estimations of APK-Inform, in 2014 - 57.3 mln tonnes, against 63 mln tonnes in 2013), and appropriate reduction of the carry-over stocks on the other hand, which are estimated at 11.7 mln tonnes by the end of the current season.

As for the export potential of the major crops, the shipments of barley and maize may remain at the level of the current season - 2.3 mln tonnes and 19.5 mln tonnes, respectively. At the same time, the export potential of Ukrainian wheat will total 8.5 mln tonnes, against 9 mln tonnes in 2013/14 MY.

Difficulties with wheat planted areas in the USA, reduction of maize exports from Brazil, and rather sufficient demand on the world market for Ukrainian grains, allow making the optimistic forecasts for the export potential of grains. In addition, the existing infrastructure can already ship significant volumes of grain export consignments (over 4.5 mln tonnes per month), and it is not the constraining factor for realization of the reporting export volumes.
