According to the official statistics data, during 8 months of 2013/14 MY (September-April) Russia imported 1.2 mln tonnes of soybeans, up almost 3 times compared with the same period of 2012/13 MY (428.9 thsd tonnes), and up 1.7 times compared with the whole last season (716.6 thsd tonnes).
In particular, in April 2014 Russia imported 248.9 thsd tonnes of soybeans, an increase of 56% compared with the previous month (159.3 thsd tonnes).
In the reporting month Paraguay (151.9 thsd tonnes, or 61% of the general volume) and Brazil (88.3 thsd tonnes, 35%) were the main suppliers of the oilseed to Russia.
