In Ukraine as of February 9, 2011, the actual buckwheat stocking volumes totaled 36.482 thsd tonnes, including 18.86 thsd tonnes – milling grain, 17.621 thsd tonnes – buckwheat seeds, stated the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
In order to stabilize the situation on the domestic market of buckwheat and buckwheat groats, the Agrarian Fund under the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in China carry on negotiations about supplying buckwheat grains in the volume of 20 thsd tonnes to the country from China. The same work is carried in the other countries– buckwheat producers, in particular the Netherlands, Poland. The Ministry specified that in accordance with the traffic map, buckwheat should be delivered from China to Ukraine till the end of March.
Besides, in order to assist for the raw-material imports and the prices decrease for the end products, the Government worked our the projects of the legislative acts about cancellation of the import duty for buckwheat imports on the territory of Ukraine, the VAT refund.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food and the leading enterprises-producers of buckwheat groats while understanding the necessity of the stability supporting, which became formed on the domestic market of buckwheat groats, signed the Memorandum about the realization of the joint measures. The Memorandum fixes the wholesale realization prices for buckwheat groats at the level of 12.6 UAH/kg.
