In July-August, Kazakhstan increased wheat exports

According to the Customs Control Committee at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in July-August of 2017/18 MY the export volumes of Kazakh wheat totaled 0.4 mln tonnes, an increase of 23% compared with the previous season (0.32 mln tonnes).

Traditionally, during two months of the new season Uzbekistan (181 thsd tonnes) and Tajikistan (123 thsd tonnes) were the main countries-importers of wheat from Kazakhstan. Italy took the third share with a share at 13% (51.7 thsd tonnes), which in July 2017 imported the maximum volumes of Kazakh wheat for 5 recent seasons – 36.9 thsd tonnes. In July-August, China imported 4% of Kazakh wheat shipments – nearly 15 thsd tonnes.

It is worth noting that Afghanistan, which is the leading importer of wheat from Kazakhstan, traditionally reduced grain purchases in the summer months, and did not come to the list of TOP-3 importers in the period of July-August of 2017, specified APK-Inform analyst, Natalia Gavruk.

In turn, in the reporting period Kazakhstan increased the exports of wheat flour to 343 thsd tonnes, up 22% compared with the same period last season. Countries of Central Asia were the traditional leaders of Kazakh wheat flour imports: Afghanistan with its share of shipments at 65% (223 thsd tonnes), and Uzbekistan - 30% (102 thsd tonnes).
