Since the beginning of 2017/18 MY, and as of October 16, the foreign shipments of Russian grains and its by-products to Saudi Arabia totaled 854 thsd tonnes, an increase of 22% compared with the same period last season, reported the Federal State-Funded Institution "Federal Centre of Quality and Safety Assurance for Grain and Grain products".

In particular, barley formed the major share of the exported volumes (99.7%) - 851 thsd tonnes. Peas and chickpeas formed the remaining volumes. Thus, in 2017/18 MY Saudi Arabia still takes the 4th position in the TOP-10 of countries-importers of Russian grains.

Also, in 2016/17 MY Saudi Arabia reduced the purchases of Russian grains to 1.1 mln tonnes (down 51% compared with the season-2015/16), which caused a decrease of the country`s share in the general grain exports from Russia to 2.7% (5.7%). Such result allowed to the country to took the 10th position in the TOP-list of importers.
