Russia: as of February 1, grain stocks totaled over 42 mln tonnes – Rosstat

As of February 1, 2018, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural, harvesting and processing organizations of the Russian Federation totaled 42.194 mln tonnes, an increase of 6.64 mln tonnes (or up 18.7%) compared with the figures on the same date in 2017, reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on February 19.

At the same time, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural organizations increased by 3.762 mln tonnes (up 18.6%), compared with February 1, 2017 – to 23.961 mln tonnes. Harvesting and processing organizations increased the rate by 2.878 mln tonnes (up 18.7%) – to 18.233 mln tonnes.

In particular, wheat formed the major share of the carry-over stocks in grain harvesting and processing organizations — 13.978 mln tonnes, up 25.3% compared with the same period last year, including 10.025 mln tonnes of milling wheat (up 27.7%).

Rye stocks totaled 582 thsd tonnes, up 15% compared with the indicator as of February 1, 2017, including 522 thsd tonnes of milling rye (up 14.5%).

Also, barley stocks increased to 1.778 mln tonnes (up 15%), buckwheat – 99 thsd tonnes (up 11.1%), and oats – 144 thsd tonnes (up 6.2%).

At the same time, corn stocks reduced to the level of 1.409 mln tonnes (down 12.9%), rice – 41 thsd tonnes (down 68.1%), and millet – 11 thsd tonnes (down 68.7%).
