According to APK-Inform estimations, in the period from 2005/06 MY to 2017/18 MY trends on the Ukrainian market of soybean meal/cake significantly changed, declared the oilseed market analyst at APK-Inform Agency, Julia Ivanitskaya during her report at the conference "Ukrainian soybeans: organic and traditional" in Kyiv, on February 21.
Due to the growth of soybean by-products production in almost 10 times in the reporting period – to 900-950 thsd tonnes, Ukraine actually withdrew from its imports, which declined in 80 times – to 2 thsd tonnes only, J.Ivanitskaya noted.
In turn, such market situation allowed doubling the domestic consumption of soybean meal, which to date already reached 550-600 thsd tonnes, due to more acceptable prices for domestic products and a large-scale supply level.
In fact, to date Ukraine changed from a country-importer to an exporter of soybean meal, and increased the product supplies on foreign markets from almost zero level to 300-350 thsd tonnes, said the expert.
