In 2018/19 MY, Ukraine will slightly reduce the planted areas under soybeans and rapeseed, while the areas under sunflower seed will somewhat increase in comparison with the current season figures, declared the Consultant at Agritel, Nikolai Kozlov during his report at the conference "Ukrainian soybeans: organic and traditional" in Kyiv, on February 21.

According to Agritel forecasts, in the following season the planted areas under Ukrainian soybeans will total nearly 1.85 mln ha, against 1.994 mln ha in 2017/18 MY, as the Ministry of Agrarian Policy estimated. Also, spring rapeseed areas will reduce from 48 thsd ha to 45 thsd ha. At the same time, sunflower seed areas will exceed the current season level (5.943 mln ha), and reach 6 mln ha, said the expert.

As for the forecast of grain crops areas, N.Kozlov stressed the expected growth of Ukrainian spring barley areas in 2018/19 MY – from 1.617 mln ha to 1.75 mln ha.

The planted areas under corn will slightly decrease – from 4.522 mln ha to 4.45 mln ha, but spring wheat areas will remain at the last year level – 200 thsd ha.
