Kazakhstan broke new records in grain exports

According to the Customs Control Committee at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in January 2018 the exports of wheat from Kazakhstan totaled 496 thsd tonnes, which became the highest monthly volumes for January period during 5 recent seasons.

In the reporting month, Uzbekistan traditionally was the main country-importer of grains (228.5 thsd tonnes). In addition, in January Turkey imported 39.7 thsd tonnes of Kazakh wheat, which was the record monthly result in the reporting destination for 5 recent years.

Since the beginning of the season (July 2017 - January 2018), Kazakhstan supplied 2.6 mln tonnes of wheat on foreign markets, up 22% compared with the same period in 2016/17 MY.

In January 2018, the shipments of Kazakh barley totaled 200 thsd tonnes, which became a historic record for the reporting month. Iran purchased the main share of the grain supplies – 97%. At the same time, during 7 months of the current MY the country purchased nearly 96% of the general barley supplies from Kazakhstan.

Since beginning of the current season, the exports of Kazakh barley increased to 801 thsd tonnes, against 475 thsd tonnes in July-January of 2016/17 MY.
