In Tajikistan, snowless winter conditions became the major reason of concern, because in terms of the forecasted summer drought, the current year will demonstrate poor harvest results, which will cause a food crisis. So, the country expects for the most "dry" weather conditions for 50 recent years, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the announcement, in 2017 Tajikistan planted agricultural crops throughout the areas of more than 837 thsd ha, including nearly 412 thsd ha of grain crops. Many agrarians reported about lost crop areas, and plan to re-plant crops to produce small-scale harvest volumes to meet their expenditures for agricultural machinery.
The authorities proposed to organize the special command center to prevent possible damages from the expected droughts, with the purpose of adapting the agricultural industry to any climate changes.
