By the end of the first half of 2017/18 MY (July-February) Ukraine exported to Turkey more than 1.8 mln tonnes of grains, peas and offals, which is 4.1 times higher year-on-year (455.5 thsd tonnes).

The leading position of the total grain export takes corn, which amounts to 729.9 thsd tonnes (versus 1.5 thsd tonnes year-on-year). It is followed by weat export which amounted to 447.5 (7) thsd tonnes. The export of offals into Turkey this season reached only 385.9 (352 thsd tonnes) thsd tonnes. The export of Ukrainian barley has increased from 46.8 thsd tonnes to 167.6 thsd tonnes and the export of peas – from 28.2 thsd tonnes to 126.2 thsd tonnes.

Moreover amid yet another possible trading tension between Turkey and Russia which is a key exporter of the grains, the Turkish market can be quite prospective for the Ukrainian grain exporters.
