As of May 16, Ukrainian agrarians planted corn for grain throughout the areas of 4.2 mln ha, or 91% of the plan, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Generally, the planted areas under spring grains and pulses (including corn) already reached 6.6 mln ha (90%). In particular, the planted areas under early spring grains totaled 2.2 mln ha (94% of the forecast), including spring wheat — 165 thsd ha (94%), spring barley — 1.5 mln ha (93%), oats — 185 thsd ha (91%), and peas — 414 thsd ha (98%). In addition, agrarians planted buckwheat throughout 57 thsd ha (38%), and millet — 26 thsd ha (48%).

Also, Ukrainian agrarians continued planting technical crops. Thus, the planted areas under sugar beet reached 280 thsd ha (94%), sunflower seed — 5.2 mln ha (94%), and soybeans — 1.5 mln ha (76%).
