As of May 17, Moldavian agrarians planted spring crops and industrial crops throughout the areas of 839.5 thsd ha, or 96.6% of the plan, reported the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment of Moldova.
In particular, the planted areas under spring wheat totaled 2.1 thsd ha (up 13.8% compared with the plan), spring barley — 17.3 thsd ha (down 13.2%), corn — 239.9 thsd ha (down 3.6%), peas — 18.8 thsd ha (up 12.4%), and other crops — 3.3 thsd ha (up 1.6%). At the same time, Moldova almost halved the planted areas under spring wheat and corn, and barley — down 1.8 times.
In addition, in the current year the planted areas under sunflower seed reached 274.3 thsd ha (96.2% of the plan), soybeans — 30 thsd ha (down 30%), and sugar beet — 17.8 thsd ha (down 11%). In the current year, Moldova did not plant rapeseed.
