According to the Customs Control Committee at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in March 2018 the exports of major pulse crops from the country totaled 15.8 thsd tonnes, up almost 40% compared with the previous month. Since the beginning of the current season (July-March), the export shipments reached a record for the period — 93.2 thsd tonnes, up 7% compared with the same period in 2016/17 MY.

In March 2018, lentils became the main exported pulse, which shipment volumes reached 12.9 thsd tonnes, as opposed to 8.7 thsd tonnes in February 2018. At the same time, Turkey purchased almost whole specified volumes (12.7 thsd tonnes). For July-March of 2017/18 MY, Kazakhstan exported 69 thsd tonnes of lentils, against 64.5 thsd tonnes in the same period of last season.

In March 2018, the exports of peas totaled nearly 3 thsd tonnes, up 11% compared with February 2018. Afghanistan imported the major volumes of Kazakh peas (2.1 thsd tonnes). For 9 months of the current season, the exports of peas from Kazakhstan totaled 22.2 thsd tonnes, against 21.2 thsd tonnes in July-March of 2016/17 MY.
