According to the Statistics Committee at the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, agrarians of Kazakhstan planted grain crops for the harvest-2018 throughout the areas of 15.135 mln ha, down 2% compared with the areas of the previous season.
In particular, the planted areas under wheat reduced by nearly 570 thsd ha (down 5%). Also, the planted areas under rice, rye and buckwheat reduced and totaled 102 thsd ha (down 3%), 21.6 thsd ha (down 11%), and 99.2 thsd ha (down 33%), respectively.
Nevertheless, agrarians planted barley throughout the record areas of 2.5 mln ha, up 22% compared with the previous season. At the same time, the areas under corn increased, and totaled 152.8 thsd ha (up 10%).
