Kazakhstan harvested over 4.8 mln tonnes of grains — Ministry of Agriculture

As of September 7, agrarians of Kazakhstan harvested grains and pulses throughout 3.631 mln ha, or 24.2% of the planted areas. At the same time, in the same period last year the harvested areas already reached 8.926 mln ha, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The harvest volumes reached 4.848 mln tonnes (in 2017 — 11 mln tonnes), with the average yield of 1.34 t/ha (1.23 t/ha).

In particular, agrarians of Turkistan oblast (formerly South Kazakhstan oblast) already completed the harvesting campaign of grains and pulses, and harvested 418.8 thsd tonnes of grains. Also, Jambyl oblast harvested 671.8 thsd tonnes of grains throughout 280.4 thsd ha (99.6%). West Kazakhstan oblast harvested 151.2 thsd tonnes of grains throughout 224 thsd ha (91.5%).

At the same time, some oblasts harvested grain crops throughout less than 10% of the areas each: Karaganda oblast — 49 thsd ha (6.1%), Pavlodar oblast — 47.9 thsd ha (6.6%), Kyzylorda oblast — 6.5 thsd ha (6.8%), and produced 51.6 thsd tonnes, 53 thsd tonnes and 10.5 thsd tonnes, respectively.

In addition, Akmola oblast harvested 493.2 thsd tonnes of grains throughout 513.8 thsd ha (11.9%), North Kazakhstan oblast — 651 thsd tonnes throughout 443 thsd ha (15.8%), and Kostanay oblast — 1.065 mln tonnes throughout 1.013 mln ha (25%). Also, East Kazakhstan oblast harvested 347.3 thsd tonnes of grains throughout 220 thsd ha (40.7%), Aktobe oblast — 193.4 thsd tonnes throughout 261.3 thsd ha (59%), and Almaty oblast — 742.5 thsd tonnes throughout 333.7 thsd ha (74.4%).
