In 2018 countries of the Danube river basin will repeat the record production of soybeans

According to the renewed estimations of the global experts, in 2018 the total production of soybeans in the countries of the Danube river basin (Ukraine, Moldova, Serbia, Bulgaria, Germany, Croatia, Hungary, Romania) will reach 5.87 mln tonnes which is similar to the record volumes of harvest-2016. Moreover, this forecast is 5% higher than the record production in 2016 and 18% higher than the average production for the last 5 years.

It should be noted that in general the soybean production in this region demonstrates the upward tendency and in the current season will provide more than 80% of the total soy production in Europe.

The largest countries producers of soybeans in Danube region are Ukraine that in 2018 is forecasted to produce nearly 4.2 mln tonnes (+1.3% year-on-year), Serbia – 625 thsd tonnes (+36%), Romania – 366 thsd tonnes (unchanged), Croatia – 225 thsd tonnes (+8.5%), Hungary – 202 thsd tonnes (+24%).
