Agrarians of Kazakhstan will not manage to finish the harvest of grains in time. During the previous 10 years by the time the harvest was 50% complete, but this year there is only 10% of grains harvested, declared the General Director of Eurasia Group Kazakhstan Sergey Glokke on September 12, reported Atameken Business Channel.

“According to farmers’ estimations the average yield varies from 1.0 to 1.5-1.7 t/ha depending on the region. Many farms started desiccation in order to cut the vegetation period. The quality of grain is not high, usually it is 4-grade or even border-4-grade, which is hard to estimate as 3-grade” – he added.

According the official forecast, the rains in Kazakhstan are expected by the end of September. Nevertheless, despite the forecast of the low production of wheat, its prices continue to rise. Thus, the price of 3-grade wheat is 50`000-55`000 tenge per ton which can increase to 60`000 tenge per ton, however, some profit can be cut owing to the devaluation of the tenge lately.

“Many farmers will be selling its harvested grain before February. But, some farmers that have the ability to storage the grain and does not have many obligations will wait until February-April, when the prices reach its peak” – summarized S. Glokke.
