Ukraine harvested 1.5 mln tonnes of corn — Ministry of Agrarian Policy

As of September 14, Ukrainian agrarians already harvested 1.5 mln tonnes of corn throughout the areas of 274 thsd ha (6% of the plan). The average yield totaled 5.49 t/ha, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Generally, as of the reporting date agrarians managed to harvest 36.08 mln tonnes of grain and leguminous crops throughout 10.3 mln ha (69%). The average yield totaled 3.5 t/ha. In particular, Ukraine harvested 34.32 mln tonnes of early grains and pulses with the average yield of 3.48 t/ha, 76 thsd tonnes of buckwheat with the yield of 1.27 t/ha, and 53 thsd tonnes of millet with the yield of 1.6 t/ha.

At the same time, Ukrainian agrarians harvested 3.63 mln tonnes of sunflower seed, with the average yield of 2.07 t/ha; 608 thsd tonnes of soybeans, with the average yield of 2.37 t/ha; and 2.7 mln tonnes of rapeseed, with the yield of 2.61 t/ha. In addition, agrarians harvested 525 thsd tonnes of sugar beet, with the average yield of 46.1 t/ha.

It was noted that agrarians started planting winter grains for the harvest-2019 — the areas reached 656 thsd ha, or 9% of the plan. Also, the areas under winter rapeseed totaled 834 thsd ha (94%).
