Egypt increased the purchases of Russian grains and oilseeds

Since the beginning of the current season (July 1), and as of September 24, Russia increased the shipments of grains and oilseeds to Egypt by 13.2% — to 2.213 mln tonnes, against 1.956 mln tonnes supplied to the country in July-September of 2017/18 MY, reported the Federal State-Funded Institution "Federal Centre of Quality and Safety Assurance for Grain and Grain products" on October 3.

According to the issued phytosanitary certificates, in 2018/19 MY Egypt took the first position among countries-importers of Russian grains.

In the reporting period, grain crops covered the whole export shipments, especially wheat batches. The supplies of Russian oilseeds totaled 1.22 thsd tonnes only: flaxseed — 1.11 thsd tonnes, and coriander seed — 0.11 thsd tonnes. The exports of pulses totaled 0.37 thsd tonnes: lentils — 0.16 thsd tonnes, peas — 0.11 thsd tonnes, and chickpeas — 0.1 thsd tonnes.
