In January-August of 2018, the foreign trade deficit in goods in Ukraine reached 5.004 bln USD, as opposed to 3.434 bln USD in the same period last year, reported the State Statistics Service of Ukraine on October 16.

In particular, for 8 months of 2018 the exports of commodities from Ukraine totaled 30.911 bln USD, up 12.4% compared with the same period of 2017. The import volumes of goods to Ukraine totaled 35.915 bln USD, up 16.1%.

The export-import coverage ratio totaled 0.86 (in January-August of 2017 — 0.89). Ukraine provided foreign trade operations with partners from 215 countries.

In the reporting period, the volume of Ukrainian commodities exports to the EU increased by 18.3% — to 13.012 bln USD, and the imports of EU commodities increased by 13.4% — to 14.867 bln USD.
