According to data of the Customs Control Committee of Kazakhstan, in September of 2018 the export of barley totaled 181.9 thsd tonnes which was the second largest monthly figure ever recorded.
Traditionally, Iran was the main buyer of Kazakh barley, having bought 93% (170 thsd tonnes) of the total export volumes of the grain.
Also, in the reporting period the large volumes of barley were exported to Iraq (466 tonnes).
In the IQ of the current MY (July-September) the total export of barley from Kazakhstan totaled 262.4 thsd tonnes which is 31% higher year-on-year. Herewith the share of Iran in the total export volumes amounted to 85% (221.7 thsd tonnes).
Also, it should be noted the growth of barley shipments to Uzbekistan. In particular, for the first 3 month of 2018/19 MY the volumes of barley exported reached 35.6 thsd tonnes which is up 18% from the total shipments in 2017/18 MY.
