In July-October of 2018/19 MY, SE Berdyansk Commercial Sea Port transshipped 397.7 thsd tonnes of grain cargoes for exports, a decrease of 26% compared with the same period last season (539.2 thsd tonnes), reported the State Enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA).

At the same time, the seaport increased the transshipment volumes of directly grain crops. So, in the reporting period of the current MY the export volumes of grains totaled 328.5 thsd tonnes, or 83% of the general structure of export transshipment of grain-type cargoes in the port, up 11% compared with the last year figures. In the same period 2017/18 MY, the transshipment volumes of grains totaled 294.7 thsd tonnes, or 55% of the general supplies of grain-type cargoes.

As for Mariupol Commercial Sea Port, the seaport significantly reduced the transshipment volumes, as well as decreased the share of grain by-products in the structure of shipments. In July-October of 2018/19 MY, the transshipment volumes of grains totaled 226.4 thsd tonnes, against 347.9 thsd tonnes in the previous season (down 35%). At the same time, the transshipment volumes of directly grain crops decreased to 193.6 thsd tonnes, against 220.5 thsd tonnes (down 12%). As a result, the share of grains in the export transshipment of grain-type cargoes increased to 86%, as opposed to 63% in 2017/18 MY.

It should be noted that both Berdyansk and Mariupol seaports are one of the key facilities in the transshipment of grain by-products, and their share in the structure of the export transshipment of grain-type cargoes took the second position only after the Kherson and Izmail ports, and in the absolute volumes of shipments — only after Kherson Commercial Sea Port.
