Russia: Ministry of Agriculture applied to the ports to report weekly on grain transshipment volumes

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation applied to the Russian ports to provide weekly figures on the loading and unloading volumes of grains received by rail, motor and water transport, until January 2020, informed the letter of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Oksana Luth sent to the heads of port terminals.

In order to ensure the systematic utilization of the current infrastructural facilities for grain transshipment, the Ministry of Agriculture asked to transfer information about the completed and planned volumes of grain loading and unloading on weekly basis, on Mondays.

According to the report, the Ministry plans to accept the information till January 5, 2020. Request forwarding to the Russian port terminals is the standard mean of communication and the source of latest weekly information, explained the Ministry officials.

As a reminder, according to the Ministry of Transport of Russia, the nameplate annual capacities of grain transshipment of the Russian ports total more than 50 mln tonnes.

In terms of the current and expected production volumes of grains and pulses, the Ministry of Agriculture does not expect for the deficit of port capacities in the country in the nearest future, the officials said.
