In Ukraine as of March 19 the early spring grains and pulses were planted on 580 thsd ha which is 25% of the total areas, reported the press-service of the Ministry of Agrarians Policy and Food of Ukraine.
In particular, by the reporting date the spring wheat was sown on 28 thsd ha (16% of the total areas), spring barley – 419 thsd ha (27%), oats – 15 thsd ha (8%). The planted areas under peas totaled 118 thsd ha (34%).
Also, the Ukrainian agrarians applied fertilizers for winter grains on 6.3 mln ha (84% of the total areas). In particular, winter wheat was fertilized on 5.3 mln ha (83%), winter rye – 89 thsd ha, and winter barley – 918 thsd ha (91%). Winter rapeseed was fertilized on 1.2 mln ha (93%).
«For today, the winter crops are in the best condition for the last 5 seasons. Moreover, adding the sufficient resources of the farmers, there are all chances to receive good results in this season» – said the Deputy Minister of the Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vladimir Topchiy.
