As of April 18, Russia planted all spring crops throughout the general areas of 4.4 mln ha, or 8.4% of the forecast (on the same date in 2018 — 2.4 mln ha), reported the Ministry of Agriculture on April 19.

At the same time, agrarians planted spring grains throughout 2.7 mln ha, or 9% of the forecasted areas (in 2018 — 1.4 mln ha). In particular, spring barley areas reached 1.4 mln ha, or 18.1% of the forecast, and spring wheat — 288.1 thsd ha (2.4%).

The planted areas under corn for grain totaled 255.1 thsd ha, or 9.8% of the plan.

In addition, Russia planted sunflower seed throughout 482.8 thsd ha (6.2%), and spring rapeseed — 55.4 thsd ha (3.9%). Also, Krasnodar Krai started planting soybeans. As of April 18, the oilseed areas reached 24.9 thsd ha, or 0.8% of the forecasted areas in Russia.

Russian agrarians planted sugar beet throughout 378.2 thsd ha, or 33.3% of the plan.

At the same time, agrarians provided additional fertilizing of winter crops throughout 11.5 mln ha, or 64.7% of the planted areas (in 2018 — 8.2 mln ha).
