The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to apply new special import duties on all goods originating from the Russian Federation since August 1, 2019, reported the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade on May 15.

The officials imposed the sanctions in response to the Russian recent ban on the sale of Ukrainian goods in Russia and its transportation through the Russian territory to third countries. According to the reporting decision, the imports of goods of Russian origin to the customs territory of Ukraine, regardless of all other existing types of duties, receive the special duties as a percentage of the customs commodity cost at its certain rates.

The duty payments are designed to accumulate in the special fund of the state budget to finance and stimulate the further import substitution measures.
