Ukrainian seaports increased grain shipment volumes by over 30% — USPA




Since the beginning of 2019, and as of May 17, the growth rates of grain transshipment exceeded 30% compared with the same period last year, declared the State Enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA).

To date, the Ukrainian ports are actively developing the capacities for transshipment of grain cargoes. For two recent years, the country already constructed new grain terminals in the ports of Berdyansk, Olvia and Pivdennyj. Also, Ukraine plans to launch a new agricultural cluster in the Azov Sea region in Mariupol, as well as a new large-scale project in Mykolaiv, said the Head at the USPA, Raivis Veckagans.

In addition, it was reported that for five recent years, the volumes of grain transshipment in the Ukrainian ports increased by almost one quarter.

As a reminder, in January-April of 2019 the general cargo turnover in the seaports of Ukraine totaled 48.8 mln tonnes.
