Market participants of Russia successfully realized all tasks, which the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation set in 2018 to increase the production rates, improve the technologies, keep and increase the planted areas, increase the application of mineral fertilizers, use more achievements of the domestic breeding industry, etc., declared the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Patrushev on July 11.

The preliminary results of not only the crop planting campaign, but also the harvesting campaign, demonstrated that many regions of Russia followed the recommendations of the Ministry of Agriculture, and showed rather good dynamics of work, he said.

According to the Minister, to date the areas under winter crops in the country totaled more than 17 mln ha, which exceeded the results of 2018, while the yield figures also increased. Agrarians achieved the results, despite the adverse weather conditions, which led to declaring of the emergency regime in 10 regions of the country. In addition, in the current year the planted areas under the major export-oriented crops — wheat, barley, corn, sunflower seed and soybeans — increased, which is especially important in terms of the task of further increasing of agricultural products exports.

To date, Russia already harvested grains and pulses throughout over 5.7 mln ha, and produced almost 23 mln tonnes of grains, with the average yield of 4.07 t/ha. According to the recent forecasts, in the current year Russia will harvest nearly 118 mln tonnes of grains, including nearly 75 mln tonnes of wheat, which will allow to the country to cover not only all domestic needs, but also guarantee the stability of the market and the growth of foreign supplies.
