During 11 months of 2018/19 MY, the exports of wheat from Kazakhstan totaled 5.37 mln tonnes, which already make it possible to report about the maximum figures of the grain shipment for 7 recent seasons.

It is worth noting that the geography of wheat supplies slightly changed compared with the season-2017/18. At the same time, adjustments in the rating passed over only the main buyers of Kazakh wheat — Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, which in July-May of 2018/19 MY increased the grain imports by 3% and 2%, respectively. China increased the purchases in 1.5 times, and took the third position with the supply volumes of 467.2 thsd tonnes, against 309.9 thsd tonnes in the previous season. Also, the TOP-10 of countries-importers of Kazakh wheat included Italy, Turkey, Georgia and Vietnam.

At the same time, Italy and Turkey took the first and second positions in the TOP-5 of the major buyers of Kazakh durum wheat, with the import shares of 63.4% (223.3 thsd tonnes) and 20% (69.2 thsd tonnes), respectively.

Taking into account the global trends on the wheat market, as well as the expected reduction in the production of durum wheat in the major countries-producers in the current year, Kazakhstan has every chance to keep its export positions in 2019/20 MY.

Within frames of the international conference "KazakhGrainExport 2019" (September 19-20, Istanbul, Turkey, Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus), experts will discuss how the grain season-2019/20 to develop for Kazakhstan, and what Kazakh traders to offer to grain importers.
