In the first month of 2019/20 MY, Turkey remained the key country-importer of Russian grains and oilseeds, and purchased 1.211 mln tonnes of the products, reported the Federal State-Funded Institution "Federal Centre of Quality and Safety Assurance for Grain and Grain products" on August 12, referring to the preliminary analysis of the phytosanitary certificates, issued by the territorial administration of Rosselkhoznadzor.

Turkey demonstrated the unique purchasing rates among all countries-importers of Russian grains, and almost doubled the figures compared with July 2018. Wheat became the major driver of the supplies, and its exports totaled 1.1 mln tonnes, up 2.2 times compared with the same month last year. Special mention should be made of soybeans — in July 2019 Russia supplied 19 thsd tonnes of the oilseed to Turkey, which already exceeded the whole last year volumes.

At the same time, in July 2019 Saudi Arabia took the third position in the rating of countries-importers of Russian grains, and even managed to update its previous record of 2015/16 MY, and imported 376 thsd tonnes of Russian grain products (up 1.5 times compared with the last season July). Traditionally, barley formed the main import volumes. Also, the country purchased Russian chickpeas and coriander.

In the first month of the season, Iran took the fourth position in the TOP-10 rating of countries-importers of Russian grains, and purchased 325 thsd tonnes of grains, up 22 % compared with the same period last year. In particular, barley shipment volumes repeated the last year figures, while the exports of corn increased by 81% — to 167 thsd tonnes.

In July 2019, Azerbaijan demonstrated the growing dynamics of shipments and almost doubled the imports — 113 thsd tonnes of Russian grain products.

China closed the list of TOP-10 of countries-importers, and somewhat increased its interest in Russian grains. In July 2019, the exports to the country increased in 1.5 times compared with the last year figures — to 107 thsd tonnes, which also became the unique value for the reporting country-importer. Soybeans mainly formed the structure of the Russian supplies, which exports increased in 6.4 times — to 80 thsd tonnes, as well as wheat flour, buckwheat, oats, etc.
