For 8 months of 2019, the seaports of Russia decreased the shipment volumes of grains by 35.3% compared with the same period last year — to 24 mln tonnes, announced the Association of Sea Commercial Ports of the Russian Federation on September 13.

In particular, the ports slightly increased mineral fertilizers transshipment — up 2.1%, to 12 mln tonnes. At the same time, in January-August the transshipment of containerized cargoes exceeded the last year level by 6.1%, and totaled 37.4 mln tonnes.

For the first 8 months of 2019, the general cargo turnover in the Russian seaports grew by 2.9% compared with the same period in 2018, and totaled 556.3 mln tonnes.

According to the announcement, the export cargo shipment reached 433.6 mln tonnes, up 5% compared with January-August of 2018, imports — 25.1 mln tonnes (up 4.6%), transit — 44 mln tonnes (up 4.2%), and coastal freight — 53.6 mln tonnes (down 12.8%).
