According to regional divisions of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor), since the beginning of the season-2019/20 (July 1) and as of November 12, Russia already imported 1.2 mln tonnes of grains and oilseeds, as well as its by-products (taking into account the supplies from the Customs Union countries), a decrease of 0.1 mln tonnes compared with the figures in the same period last season, reported the Federal State-Funded Institution "Federal Centre of Quality and Safety Assurance for Grain and Grain products".

At the same time, in the reporting period the imports of grains and pulses to the country reduced to 124 thsd tonnes, down 50% compared with the same period last year (247 thsd tonnes).

In the current season, the supplies of 10 major agricultural crops formed the leading share of the reporting import volumes (92%), and as of the reporting date the figures reached 1.1 mln tonnes. Soybeans became the most high-demand crop on the Russian market, which purchases totaled 663 thsd tonnes (57% of the general imports). Paraguay (49%) and Brazil (47%) became the main suppliers of the oilseed.

In the reporting period, the number of countries-exporters of grains and oilseeds to Russia lowered to 60, as opposed to 67 in the same period of 2018/19 MY.
