According to APK-Inform estimations, in the first half of 2019/20 MY Ukraine exported nearly 15 mln tonnes of wheat, an increase of 44% compared with the previous season (10.4 mln tonnes). Indonesia, Egypt and Bangladesh became the main countries-importers of the grain, and purchased 43% of the general supplies of the Ukrainian grain, or 6.4 mln tonnes in physical terms, while in the previous season the figures totaled 33% (3.4 mln tonnes).

The analysis of the dynamics of wheat shipments to the reporting countries in the period of July-December demonstrated that if Indonesia took the leading position among importers of Ukrainian wheat for the third running season, then in the same period last season Egypt took the seventh position only, and Bangladesh even did not come to the TOP 10. At the same time, in 2018/19 MY Indonesia and Egypt were the main importers of wheat from Ukraine, and Bangladesh took the fourth position, after the Philippines, explained APK-Inform analyst, Viktoria Rozhko.

According to her, in July-December of 2019/20 MY Indonesia purchased 2.5 mln tonnes of wheat, up 18% compared with 2018/19 MY (2.1 mln tonnes). For six months of the season-2019/20, Ukraine shipped 2.2 mln tonnes of the grain to Egypt, up 3.6 times compared with the volumes shipped last season (620.1 thsd tonnes). In the first half of the season, Bangladesh imported 1.7 mln tonnes of Ukrainian wheat, up 2.4 times compared with the figures in the season-2018/19 (699 thsd tonnes).

 

 

So, for six months of the season-2019/20, Ukraine increased the exports of wheat to Indonesia, Egypt and Bangladesh in 1.9 times, compared with the same period last season. APK-Inform analysts estimated the general volumes of wheat supplies from Ukraine in 2019/20 MY at 18.9 mln tonnes, up 22% compared with the last season results. At the same time, in the first half of the season traders already managed to realize more than 79% of the forecasted export potential.
